This year, we piloted a new program called Kindergarten Science Club! We have about a dozen budding young scientists come and join us each week to do some fun science experiments and STEM projects. This Tues. we did acid vs base. Did you know that simple grape juice can be used as the indicator for this experiment? We then experimented by adding lemon juice to the indicator which turned the grape juice from dark purple to red. And the students charted and recorded their findings. Next up we experimented with our old friend, the baking soda, that created lots of WOW, and laughs as it bubbled and fizzed up while turning the grape juice blue - the basic side of the spectrum. The students also learned that is how you can make a chemical reaction - mixing two ingredients together and seeing how they interact!
Thursday was invisible ink day! We had the students partner up and write a "secret" message to their partner and then reveal the message when they got back together. The result was SUPER cute and adorable. See pictures below!
